I've not had a TX, but I know a number of people who have. The best way to learn about a TX s to go to the transplant center and get evaluated. At least in the US and I suspect in Australia, you can't have a transplant unless you've been evaluated for the procedure. You'll probably find that it's the most thorough physical, mental and emotional evaluation you'll ever have. If you ask lots of questions, they'll have all the information they need to say you're a good candidate and you'll have all the information you need to make a decision regarding whether this is right for you.

Thank you so much Jean and Crisp. I appreciate your help, just trying to find out which option I can choose and be eligible for, as my emphysema is getting much worse. Have a lovely day xx

Welcome @A MyCOPDTeam Member. When I was working I took care of elderly and handicapped people. I took care of a lady who was just a year older than I am. She was so happy when she got her double lung transplant, but she only lasted another 5 years. Transplants I'm sure have come a loooong way since then (that was 15 years ago), so that's all I know about them. I answered your post because I have a daughter who lives in Adelaide, Australia and everyone from there makes me feel closer to her. Maybe one day I will find a friend of hers or something. Good luck on your transplant if you get one.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that @A MyCOPDTeam Member. Keep on fighting, a breakthrough may happen sooner than we think! Hugs and prayers to you.

I was interviewed by a transplant team for a lung transplant and was turned down based on my age 75 and previous surgery. I would never make it off the table alive, when they took me off the ecmo machine my heart couldnt keep up with taking over the circulation.
