Covid Diagnosis
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hi friends hope you all are doing well. I was diagnosed with covid Aug 2 spent 7 days in hospital came home so weak could not walk but am doing a little better with physical therapy. Dr says could take me six months or more to come back. Has anyone else been through this and how are you feeling and dealing with it. A little scared that this will lessen my time. Appreciate your help and hope

I've not had COVID, but I expect that what you describe is pretty close to an exacerbation as you can get, and when I've had those it has taken me four to six months to get back. The big thing is to begin exercising gently as soon as you can and push yourself a bit. I usually reduced the intensity of the exercise I did down to where I started and worked my way up from there. Putting in the time for the exercise was as much a goal as actually doing the distance. You build your endurance and stamina slowly....but then you are back where you were.

I haven't had Covid but my Next door neighbor did in March. I know the symptoms can vary according to which strain is the culprit and underlying conditions. He was in the hospital 3 weeks. He is still somewhat weak, has little stamina and is on oxygen supplement for activity and gets pretty bad headaches occasionally. He says he’s fine for sleeping and while sitting, and that his taste is back.

I too had Covid. Went into hospital for chest pressure. COVID test + on admission. Stayed 3 days. Felt good until I got home. Felt absolutely horrible all week. Coughed so hard I now have a hernia. Doc says surgery, but I'll wait as long as I can. Quarantined for 10 days. Feel much better, tho still with a cough. Luckily my breathing has been ok. Have a breathe easy weekend πŸ™‚
