Does Your Doctor Tell You Much About What's Going On?
@A MyCOPDTeam Member That's an important topic. After 15 years, from beginning of COPD to today severe stage of emphysema, and having consult something like 20 different doctors, I can say they say "nothing". They do ask for you to perform many exams, they receive and read them, they give you some advise regarding your health and management, prescribe you necessary meds... And that's it!
Indeed, they don't explain what they have observe and the consequences of a Lung CT-scan, of a blood sampling in details, of a Lung function test, of the stage and consequences of your disease, and the prognosis and management of it on a long-haul.
I will, for now, let other members of MyCOPDTeam tell their experience in this matter,
Hugs! 🧸
I have a very good Pulmonologist @A MyCOPDTeam Member and @Dominique02. He has a sense of humor which I enjoy very much. He treats me with respect (maybe because I am so much older than he is lol), but only if he finds something unusual in a test will he explain things. However, if I ask questions he is happy to answer them, so I think that's what we all must remember to do--ask, ask, ask.
Here in Britain it is possible to go on a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Course. As well as doing some exercise based on your abilities the second part of each session provided information about COPD, ways of treating it, etc.
@A MyCOPDTeam Member My GP answers to my questions are mostly "I don't know"... I should maybe change of GP? 🤔Nevertheless, Next time I will follow your advise and write down my numerous questions. 💞🧸
@A MyCOPDTeam Member I think this statement is very true. I usually write down my questions prior to seeing my Pulmonologist or Primary doctor.
