I am on my soapbox today. We are all told that our lungs are damaged. Not destroyed but damaged and that means there should be a away for them to heal. From what I understand it is a problem with inflammation that is stopping the healing. So if we can control the inflammation and we can rest enough shouldn't there be some way that we can promote healing to the damaged parts of our lungs? If we have a broken bone, or have an ulcer or torn muscles, we rest and allow the body to heal. Why isn't… read more

I stopped smoking about six months before I was diagnosed 12 years ago. My question is: why do your lungs continue to get worse? I really don't understand. The first pulmonary dr. I saw told me I would not get any better, but I also would not get any worse. The doctor I have been seeing for the past 11 years told me he was very wrong. But for some reason I have never asked him this question. I think this site has made me more aware of what is going on with my body. Can anyone explain why… read more

How is everyone been doing? I have been away from here for quite a while. I hope everyone is hanging tough. I am doing pretty well since I had surgery. Feels good to feel better. I did go up to Houston to Methodist Hospital. I had lung reduction surgery. It's no joke! Yet, here I am and I give all the glory to God and the best doctors in the world.

That's good......its proving to be a deadly alternative.
Does the fear that you're feeling your lungs being damaged ever diminish?
Ex. Today, I'm certain i overdid things with sorting cleaning. My chest is tight and a little burny. Just like my legs. But, with my chest being a little tight and achy, I'm convinced I'm sustaining more lung damage. This anxiety is debilitating at times. Will I always be hyperaware of breathing / pain / etc with these lungs?
