They use the "gold standards" to classify the stages from your PFT. My pulmonologist dose not like the old 1234 stages. He uses the new abc method that takes more of each persons experiences with O2 levels, SOB's, and exacerbations, as well as the PFT to grade it.

A good pulmonologist will take a look at test results, but also what kind of a life you live: are you active, do you exercise daily, are you social, go out to lunch, go to church, do your own shopping, etc. I don't think the stage is as important as staying active and social.

a Lung Function test is preformed I have about 32% left of my lungs that function properly. I am at severe stage Emphysema. which is stage 4 I believe?.
