Sometimes I think my coughing is due to my allergies, but then I was tested and found out I have copd, so what is the difference? I did not ask for this at all - got it I believe as I was around second hand smoke all my life. My mother passed away from copd from smoking many years ago. I have been asking myself - did I have this all my life - or was it asthma and then turned into copd?

I use the same meds. .it's just a rare asthma that attacks other organs as well.

Does everyone with COPD have a chronic horrendous cough? OR is the cough related to asthma? I have the chronic all the time. I have found that some of the coughing spells are triggered by several different smells. Anyone else experience. I do have asthma as well as the chronic bronchitis.
