I have had flare ups for over a week now. Finally went to the ER last night. Received a breathing treatment. IV liquid that included 2 doses of magnesium. Did the usual chest X-ray and came back good. My pulmonologist is on vacation for 2 weeks and nearly impossible to get a hold of. Does anyone have any suggestions that can help because at this point I’m just going to call my regular doctor. I’m on Stioletto and don’t even know if I can use a rescue inhaler. I just want to be able to breathe… read more
From past experience, Good X-rays plus normal blood labs = NO Antbiotics. It sounds like you are very congested and the steroids probably helped a bit. The proof is the IV infusion. Magnesium is very… read more

I have on a few occasions that we should nt take antibiotics when we have COPD. When I wAs in hospital with a chest infection and exasperation I was given excessive amounts of antibiotics to stop the infection. I would like to know why people are saying we shouldn't take them
Your doctor is quite correct about too much of the Levaquin. Your body will built up an immunity to it after while. Doxycycline is a good sub for it.

Every morning I wake up my nose is blocked similar to hay fever. Then the mucus runs down my throat and I have to cough it up. Usually clear but sometimes thick and green
It has been called post nasal drip or rhinitis and I have a nasal spray which does not help. After an hour or so it more or less stops for the rest of the day but sometimes comes back and it feels like it is triggered by an allergy?
I also get heavy nose bleeds and I have had my nose… read more
@A MyCOPDTeam Member I've also begun using vicks under my nose at night before i go to bed.
Went to the Pulminologist Tuesday and it is now Saturday. Breathing ok but lots of thick yellowish mucus.
My Dr just wants me to call or email him as soon as I start seeing yellow or green color in my mucus. It is best to get antibiotics as soon as possible or things can get worse fast. It will save you a… read more
If you don’t have a chest infection, has anyone taken steroids on their own . Maybe just for a boost ?
not me
I had what I though was a flair up last month. My Dr sent out my Antibiotics and still wound up in the ER three days later. Only to find out it was an exacerbation. After I finished my days of antibiotics I have been breathing better. I mean really better. My average O2 levels we 90-91 before. They are staying up in the 96-99 range now. That is without oxygen. I may drop to 91-92 walking but only temporarily.
Now I have been in a steady decline the past 2 years. So this change is out of the… read more
