That is why you take Probotic's daily to replace the good bacteria. There are certain antibotics that are suppose to be used just for COPD, they shouldn't have an effect on the whole immunity system. For 3yrs straight I had to take an antibotic to clear up a UTI problem, it didn't effec the rest of the body.
the only problem with constant antibiotics is they kill the good germs( if that is the correct terminology)also so it lowers your immunity to everything..I have had pneumonia several times because of this, so I just take them (on DR. orders ) now as needed)
I have read where it is recommended that COPD patients take antibotic every other day, to prevent flare up. I will be talking to my doctor next month when I see him.
it was suggested as a comfort measure to go on azithromycin daily, but I refused at this point in time, as it can cause deafness. the deafness is permanent, so hearing does not come back when you go off the med. I understand other countries are successful using it 3 days a week, but the risk is still there for deafness. in January, 2016, I was told I probably have a year left. maybe when things get bad again I will consider this. I guess when things get bad, looking at something to hang onto can keep me going and fighting a little longer.
