Right Sided Heart Disease.
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone experienced a dramatic/sudden weight gain. I went from a size 36 to a 42 in one week while I was in pulm. rehab. I was sent to emergency and was hospitalized until I could breath and pee much better. Now I look 8 to 9 months pregnant and the weight just stays. A doctor mentioned right side heart disease. Any insight?

That happened to me........Dr. thought it was chf......sent me to hospital in an ambulance. They managed to get some of the fluid off of me, but determined that my heart was just working extremely hard to keep my lungs oxygenated and it didn't have the strength to pump the fluids up & out of my lower body. Jean is right, see your cardiologist first.

this is how much differecere between a heart dr and a lung dr, when to heart for a 6month ck up, I asked him how come i'm gaining so much weight, get cked out, he says i'm retaining a little fluid, so writes script fo water and possuam, then he says are you still going to rehab, I said yes, and he turns around and says I need to excire more, da! I stay as active as I can with my copd, he said try harder, I like him for my heart issues he's very good, but doesn't real have a clue about copd, then other the other side the same goes for the lung dr, he's cluelees about the heart, so there you go right

COPD is leading cause of death in US. I went through 5 different teams of Drs. to find the right one. His treatment & medicines are opposite of other drs.Medicines(some) have to be FED EX from Dallas & I live in a big medical community. I have a separate dr. sin ce I got on Hospice, but I am allowed to keep my primary care dr for health issues other than CHF & COPD. Hospice uses a compound dr. They deliver the medicines to my home, they draw lab from my home & they work hand in hand with my primary care. It took a 6 month terminal dia.gnosis to qualify for my insurance to cover me. I was constantly 5 days each month in hospital. It has now been 3 months without 911 & a hospital. 100lb weight gain here also. Still 30 pills 2 times a day, plus the "as needed" ones. Trilogy(in-home ventilator) which runs the electric bill app. $100.00 a month higher. The good news is I am improving. 2 steps forward & 3 back. I don't fear death, just don't won't to suffocate to death. I've been through this 9 times. I have so many limitations but I know I'm better physically, spirtually & emotionally. Its not easy but I am going to live with this disease as long as I am suppose to.

God bless each & everyone of us. Fight for yourself!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member I guess the thing that really bothers me the most is both the heart dr and lung dr, know that when they did my left side lung reduction, everyone got a big surprise, they found edvidence of cancer, a slow eating flesh eating bactria and one other thing I cant remember right now, they cut it all out, but infectous diese is still on a wait and see if it comes back, they also know that I still have 2 nodules in my lungs they didn't remove, so in my mine something still fishy,, you don't allof a sudden start gaining weight for no reason when noithing has changed, all this weight gain happen after they removed that tumbor, yes I know the feeling about the pills 22 a day total plus 3 inhaler, I always tell the ladies at the phamicy, it breakfast, lunch and diner, so you take one day at a time enjoy life to the fullest, and try not to let this get to you
