Has anyone ever had a blackout called syncope?
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, I have had Syncope for over 20 years, I have had every test done by every Dr. in the book. they ruled out heart problems right off the bat, that's the main issue to be worried about..it all boiled down to : when I sit for longer that 20 min at anytime,my blood pressure drops, blood pools in my legs..therefore when I stand up,get out of a car etc..I get dizzy, light headed, limbs and face go numb and tingly,I see gray and or get very shaky, have ringing in ears, cant walk a straight line,I have even passed out and gone into a seizure..It depends on how long I was sitting and how long it takes the blood and o2 to get up to my head as to how bad it is... I have for some reason gone for a few days without a spell at times..I have found through the years that if i sit up and stretch my body up and forward before getting up,it sets off a slight dizzy spell before I get up and either lightens or completely stops the spell for when I get up. The Cardio Doc told me before getting out of a car to lay the seat back and to lift my legs up as much as I could and to move them around , this also helps at times but the stretching is much quicker and seems to help more... I hope this helps you in some way and wish you luck with your prog..God Bless
iv had them for many years and still do at least once or twice a month, guess theirs no cure for it. have passed out and fell and broke ribs before. sometimes i can tell when its coming on, usualy when i cough, but other times it hits so fast i don't release it till i come to lying on the floor
Not sure if it has to do with the heart. I thought it was part of COPD. Since no one else responded I am assuming that it is not prevalent in COPD patients. I get choked and coughed till I passed out, it has happened twice. Thanks for responding.
I've passed out a couple of times, and often get dizzy and my body feels numb when I have a coughing spell. My doctor says it's not uncommon. It happens when I get coughing and can't get a breath in.
I had it on a plane. I kept passing out the whole flight. Couldn't keep my head up. Doc blew it off. That was helpful.
