I was scheduled for one, but when they got in there the tissue was so damaged that my surgeon said he thought he would never seal so he did a pleuradhesion (spp) instead - had chest drains for a while afterwards and the first few months were difficult but it has really helped
What is it Rosalie Smith?
I had a bullectomy and they removed some. Not sure that it helped though
I had that done in October off 2012. I had already been in one of 3 different hospitals for 34 days and had blown the second hole in my lungs. While they were fixing the holes, my surgeon took off the worst looking tissue, to hopefully keep me from having one of them blow out. I have not been back in the hospital and my utilization of my oxygen has increased dramatically even in the face of my lung function going down. Make sure you have a surgeon who does these all the time.
rather than me trying to explain, just google bullectomy, my dr, is suggesting that he will get me in touch with a surgeon in toronto.
