Has Anyone Had A Lung Volume Reduction (LVR) Operation Or A Procedure Done With Valves Or Coils?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

My doctor has suggested an LVR for me depending on the results of several tests.....I have read about what's involved but wondered if anyone has actually had one done..ie how you felt during, afterwards, and what improvements...differences you felt afterwards. Look forward to hearing your stories.

To qualify you must be in stage 4, your copd has to be confined to one area of the lung more than all over , so when they collapse the bad part you have a better part to take over and expand where the worse part was. Most important there has to be liberate valve trials being done in your area.

I had the valves places about 6 months ago. It has been wonderful for me. Like the start of a new life. Here it is still a clinical trial not yet approved by the FDA. I wish you luck and if you get the chance do it. Recovery is very easy and the results are great.

Hoping to have BLVR in October in Melbourne , one way valves are inserted to damaged areas of the lung to block them off , this is Not " MAJOR " surgery as there is no cutting etc. & 3-4 days in hospital ! Seems so much safer & less risky, good luck !

I have discussed with my AMAZING specialist and he also changed my meds to ULTIBRO and ALVESCO before this I had Spiriva and seretide These new meds are amazing and I would suggest ask your Respiratory Specialist about them..Much better than Spiriva etc

Thanks for your reply, I will be very interested in hearing how it goes and what is involved. My cardiologist has since advised that I may not be eligible for a BLVR as my arterial blood oxygen levels are too low.
