I was a long-term smoker and really enjoyed it. The day I got diagnosed with COPD my doctor said if I didn't quit I would be dead in a year (was diagnosed with severe COPD). I never touched another cigarette. I quit going to any place where I always smoked; at home I would get up and do something; stopped smoking in the car. It was life style changes. Went through a short time when I felt I had lost my best friend. Much to my surprise, within one week I was done. No cravings, no desire to smoke. I haven't smoked a single cigarette since.... it's been 17 years. You have to make a conscious decision about which is more important... cigarettes or living. You'd be surprised what a difference not smoking makes in you're life. You gain back all the time you spent smoking, never had to double check that I had cigarettes before I went out, saved bunches of money. A big benefit was that when I quit, my husband quit too. I never told a soul was quitting - it my own personal battle. Quitting is a win-win situation. Good luck to you.

I smoke for 50 years and it was really hard to quit but I did it. My husband doesn`t smoke he quit over 30 years ago it would be really hard to quit if someone in the house smoked. I guess the best advice I can give is with COPD you need to quit. I will pray for you
