Hi, no I have not but I have a good friend who did, She is doing fantastic, even got off oxygen. Her lungs expanded like they had hoped and she had no complications. I wish I could try it but thekiy said I was not appropriate for this. I guess my damage is more in the middle? I don't know I am guessing, I heard no and left it at that. I think I will ask next time why. I hope all is well with you.

I have had a lung transplant by in January 2018, I only had 12% capacity. I had COPD, emphasis, and bronchitis, I was never told I was not a candidate for the transplant. I will say I did have the best team in the U.S. taking care of me, they have been a blessing. I had monthly check-ups before surgery, and weekly check-ups after for a month. The check-up eventually grew further apart and at the end of this year the should be every 6 months and then once a year.
I can tell you depending on where you live can determine when you can become eligible for transplant. When transplant was first mentioned to me I lived in PA and my lung function was at 25% and had I stayed I was have started my test back in 2013. In August of that year I moved to CA to be closer to my daughter, my son was over seas serving in Korea. When moving to CA and seeing mu specialist he advised me by there guidelines I was not eligible there. In January of 2017 I had lost so much lung function ( I was at 12% ) I was ready for transplant. I moved to AZ was referred to American Lung Institute, and they started the process for transplant approval. Yes you have to go through a large amount of testing and to me it was worth it.
So for anyone who has COPD, emphasis, and bronchitis speak and let you doctors know that you may be interested in looking at a transplant. Please know that if you don't have family support you can be denied. You need to make sure you have a super team to work with you before, during and after it is very important.

hi team mates , i,ve had 3 valves fitted in my lungs nearly 2 yrs ago . i was fighting for each breath i took .i,ve got severe c. o.p.d ,emphysema. i could,nt even open curtains or put washing on line ,but since my op ,i can do these simple things .i still get puffed out ,but thats better than fighting for my last breath.

I had the Lung Volume Reduction Surgery. Removed 70% of the top left lobe and 50% of the right. I am off O2 during the day and leading a nearly normal life. For me it was a near miracle

Yes I had a double lung transplant 9/17/15 so thankful to God and the donor I live for I had a lot of bump and humps To get over but I'm doing awesome now without my oxygen I can freely and wanting to get out and about without being scared anymore. @A MyCOPDTeam Member
