I have 4 valves fitted but it has made no difference to me
I would love to have valves put in my lungs but I’m having oxygen at home
I’ve got copd my doctor told me mine is behind the heart so it will be very tricky
Post op was difficult. Lots of air leaks. In hospital for 14 days, chest tube in for a month. I developed subcutaneous emphysema while in the PACU so was in there for over six hours and after went for a few days to a step down unit. The subcutaneous is just very uncomfortable not life treating. After trying a few different things to stop the air leaks , On day ten had second procedure where they inserted 6 zephyr valves to plug up the air leaks. They stayed in for 6 weeks. Once the chest tube was removed at the 4 week mark, I started to recover. Last week the valves were removed and it’s remarkable. I had had a 24/7 cough since the surgery and it disappeared and my shortness of breath was greatly decreased. Also the last couple of days I’m on oxygen only with exercise and sleep. So I guess it worked. Im feeling better than I have in years. Walking 3 miles a day on my treadmill doing chores etc. I just didn’t expect it to take almost 3 months. But worth it for sure. Good luck with your procedure. I may return to have the left side done.
What was post-op like? No air leaks, infection or pneumonia? I’m having both done next week.
Had LVRS right side March 9, 2022. Too early yet for final results.
You,ll be ok shameen ,doctors said I'd probably not notice any difference straight away, it takes time , but I could feel a big difference just walking on corridor to toilets in hospital xxx
I'm waiting now to have 4 valves place on my lungs
I never knew there was surgery for COPD
Yes, my doctor said that I was not qualified, my condition is to far advanced
