I got pneumonia after having the shot, now the doctor keeps me on antibiotic daily from Nov.thru April to prevent any type of infection.

I have been getting pneumonia and flu shots for many years. I've never had the flu and usally only get a light case of pnemonia once in a while. This last January I got a pneumonia booster shot, a week later I had pneumonia, in hospital for 8 days, didn't really think I was going to make it. Got released and amonth later I had a relapse back in hospital for 4 days. I didn't use to use oxygen but I do now at bedtime and when exercising.

Neither the flu shot or either of the pneumonia vaccines available are a guarantee that you won't get a variant that isn't covered by the vaccine. There are over 90 variations of pneumonia and the vaccines only cover about a third of them. What is true is that if you do get either after having the vaccine, you usually aren't as sick as you might have been without the vaccine.
