I chain smoked for many years, and was getting so much coughing two and a half years ago, and for about the 100th time, I stopped smoking and have stayed stopped. Not trying to be moany, but I feel worse now than I ever did when smoking - My breathing feels like I have old rags blocking my lungs. I have found that though I'm now taking many medications (2 heart, 3 pain tabs. slow release Aspirin, diuretic, a puffer to use on and off all day and a once a day puffer called Ultibro Breezehaler, which hurts like hell to breathe in) and they drive me crazy. I feel sick when I take them all in the morning, and that lasts for quite a while. I often have nightmares, and wake up not knowing where I am for a few minutes, which terrifies me, but it does wear off quite shortly, but causes Panic Attacks, which I find so frightening. Doctors are so wary about prescribing anti-anxiety medication, and I almost have to be in tears to get something that settles me down a bit. My partner is getting really fed-up with me, as I sit in my recliner almost all day, and do very little around the house, because I can hardly move around with my arthritic pain. I'm truly fed-up with living, and I'm 55 kilometres from the nearest shop, and I don't know what will happen if he and I break up. I don't mean that I'm just using him - for I'm not, but I need a bit of help now, taking the dogs for a walk, and taking me shopping once a fortnight or so. We live out in the country, so far away from anywhere. It was ok when I bought the place, but now looks like the action of a totally crazy person. I am so sorry for this note - I try so hard not to moan about my life, because it makes nothing better, and probably isn't too encouraging for other people, but sometimes I can't help it, and I don't have anyone else to speak to really. I'm getting to the age when my friends are dying or becoming really ill, or just plain have moved away. The odd ones I have left are mainly ill, or riddled with depression and anxiety too. I thought getting old was going to be quite good, but it isn't as I thought it would be, and frankly, living for much longer doesn't do to much for me as an idea of the future. Forgive me people. God Bless everyone here, and may you all Breath easily, and feel better day by day. With love to all, Leah. xx

@ Mailnda Elko, I have stage 2 copd and I am still smoking. I have just purchased a new product out on the market to help me quit, I am waiting for it to arrive so I can start it. I know that when you quit your lungs start to clear and expand better and you will have a better quality of life, My stage 2 won't get better but I can stop it from getting worse, and it will be easier to breathe because my lungs won't have to work so hard. I would suggest you try to find a quitting program that you think will work for you. You will be happy you did. Here's to our successs

End stage when diagnosed and quit. I recently quit the e cigarette about 5 months ago and really noticed I wasn't as short of breath as when I was even smoking ecig. You will really notice Breathing better

@A MyCOPDTeam Member hi I sympathise , and share the same at present , I'm not looking for a longer life but a better quality one ! We live in hope !its hard to stay positive when every day is a struggle ,and you find more things you cannot manage to do , but do not let the person you may rely on for help run your life , at some point you get it thrown back at ya what they do for ya been there I've bought a 2 hand mobility scooter to gels getting round local shops , ok if weathers ok lol , but there are plenty of supermarkets that do home delivery if you order on line , even Iceland , even clothes shops , it's not ideal but you keep some independence .
