Inhalators For Cessation Of Smoking
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I desperately (as do a lot of us) need to stop smoking. I have been using inhalators. However, I have read somewhere that these are dangerous too. Does anybody else still use inhalators and do they think they're alright? One of the medications I take is aminophylline, and I was puffing away on my inhalator like nobody's business. My theophylline levels went sky high, there is a danger of toxicity, and my aminophylline was stopped immediately for three days until the level of toxicity in my… read more

I smoked for 46 years snd quit 7 years ago. I had two choices, continue to smoke and die or stop smoking and live. Continuing to live was all the motivation I needed so I quit cold turkey. I was quite surprised to find that after several weeks to urge to smoke got less and less. The use of inhalers/vaping only replaces one addiction for another. Your lungs are already damaged so why add unwanted chemicals and irritants - your lungs need a rest. The only inhalers you or anyone should be using are thosed prescribed to treat your respiratory disease. Hugs

I had two choices live with COPD or die early. I chose to live. I quit using the patch step down program. After 3 weeks it became too expensive. So I went cold turkey the rest of the way. That was a very long time ago. It's a mind set. It was the hardest thing to do. It's different for everyone, but if you do make the decision, there are people here to give you moral support. You can quit! Be well......

You already have COPD because you smoked and kept putting things in your lungs that didn't belong there; why put more stuff that doesn't belong there in your lungs? Find a health professional who specializes in quitting smoking and let them help you. They will treat your smoking as an addiction and really help if you want to quit.

I am here to help, I was a smoker for 30 plus years, it came down to choices. One, I live and get to enjoy time with my children and grandchildren or 2, I keep smoking and die long before my time with much agony and expense to myself, not to mention the turmoil it causes my loved ones. Praying for you, God Bless You!

I completely agree with BDonnaBickford and I would add it is quite expensive, and yes just another addiction. Breath easy. HUGS!!!
