My mom has a terrible cough at night. She can usually fall asleep, but then almost every night at 3 am she will wake up and cough for about an hour or so. Has anybody been able to figure out how to ease these night coughing spells?
@A MyCOPDTeam Member tell your Mom to ask the doctor for benzonate,it works really fast,I also have a bad cough,it really helps, please let me know if it helps,thanks.Susan
Might want to get a Nebulizer.....see if your insurance covers it
I have the same thing every night i will wake up coughing there isnt a night i dont wake up the only thing i have found that as worked is taking my steriod tablets from my doctor but that is only a short term fix as i cannot take them forever i have been put on some new tablets and another inhaler but got to try my new inhaler for 3 weeks before i try the new tablets so its now 3.31 am and yes again i have woken up coughing AGAIN when i spoke to my new dr about it i was basically laughed at and told “ are you sure u have copd bet u have ahstma” some drs are just not helpfull seeing as ive been under the hospital for it after having chest ct chest xrays etc
Is she waking up due to low O2 sats while sleeping, Maybe she should have a sleep test done to see if overnight O 2 might help.
I keep a bottle of water and an inhaler by my bedside
