Loss Of Voice From Symbicort
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been using Symbicort since I was diagnosed with COPD in January 2017. It helps with my breathing however, I can barely speak. My vocal cords seem to be constricted, I feel as if I have to clear my throat all the time. At times, I try to speak and no sound comes out. I have talked to my pulmonary dr., family, doctor, and dentist about this. No one has a clear solution. I called the nurse at Symbicort and all she did was say she was sorry and kept reading me the side effects listed on… read more

I’m not sure where you live but you need to find another doctor, preferably a pulmonologist. Spiriva was the gold standard, taken along with either symbicort or Advaif (which contain a Steroid). (now there are some new drugs such as Trelegy on the market).
But if you have COPD, it’s important to take spiriva or equivalent.

I periodically suffer from hoarseness or laryngitis but most of the time it’s actually from acid reflux. You might even have silent acid reflux where you do not feel a burning sensation. I went to an ENT doctor and he put a camera down through my nose And saw the reflux coming up into my vocal chords or larynx. I saw it on the computer monitor And I did not have the sensation of heartburn. Reflux can also irritate the lungs and cause you to cough; actually a high percentage of asthma cases are really caused by acid reflux.

I hope this helps.

But with those herbal remedies be very careful because there can be some serious drug interactions with your prescription meds Tumeric has a large amount of adverse side affects just use caution when mixing herbal remedies and prescriptions . Do research before trying these cures .I found a great Lemon ginger tea made by Stash (buy at any Kroger related company for $3.00) that I make and add a bit of honey to works really well to break up my mucus especially in the AM Good Luck DAH
