Does anyone know if symbicort makes you gain weight. I quit smoking but I gained 20 lbs, I'm afraid to get on the scale, my granddaughter just told me I look pregnant .

None of the inhaled medications cause weight gain. Inactivity and eating too much causes weight gain. talk with your doc about stating a daily exercise program. Exercise hard and work up a sweat, make yourself huff and puff for at least 30 minutes a day. Combine that with a 1200 - 1500 calorie diet and you'll lose the weight. I lost over 100 pounds doing that: it works1

20 lbs. after going smoke free. That's gone now. I think the steroids put the weight on when we have to take a pill. Most of the weight gain is from inactivity. If possible try to go for walks, and watch what you eat.
You'll be fine! Just try to be as healthy and you can, that's all we can do.

I totally agree with @A MyCOPDTeam Member. My understanding of most inhaled breathing products do not cause weight gain. You eat more because you can now taste food better. Also inactivity and high calorie count can cause the weight gain.

I used Symbicort. I haven't gain any weight from it. As a matter of fact, I'm losing weight. But from the diet I put myself on. Where I eat less...And watch what I eat. It really works. Don't eat until you feel full. If the medication makes you gain weight, then you need to talk to your doctor about it.
