Has Anyone Tried Boswellia Serrata?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am trying to find natural supplements to help with my COPD. Has anyone tried the herb Boswellia Serrata? It is supposed to reduce flare ups and help with better lung function in people with COPD.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member Already done. I always check things out, and do my own research. Boswellia Serrata is recommended for COPD by quite a few doctors that say it's the best natural anti-inflammatory for lungs for people with Asthma and COPD. My question was just to ask if others here have tried it to get their opinion on it, but so far only one person here said they tried it and that it works for them. I guess there are not too many people into alternative medicine on this website. I presently take a total of 10 vitamins and supplements daily, and am about to add more to the anti-inflammatory category, one of them being Boswellia Serrata.

Doctors are paid well to push their drugs. Most are not educated on natural supplements. So no, I will not ask my drug pushing doctor. He only gets paid by the drug companies.

Every thing has a side effect, before jumping into a new program or supplement, look up all the side effects and how they react with the medications you are taking.

Yes, I saw that one. If you read it carefully, you'll find that the study was done in 1998 and I looked it up. Besides being old, there were some problems with the way the study was conducted and it actually raised more questions than it answered. The reference in the first paragraph to animal studies is about horses. Horses actually get chronic bronchitis, generally not emphysema; there are a lot of herbal remedies used on them, including honey, which my good friend uses for her horse with COPD. Again, I don't think it could hurt, but I'd be surprised if it helped much.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member Hi Ruth, thanks for your response. I am familiar with Turmeric (Curcumin) I have seen they sell Turmeric with Boswellia Serrata in it now. I have taken Curcumin (Turmeric) for about a year, but then started taking NAC, and read somewhere that we shouldn't take both together, so I stopped the NAC, but have now stopped the curcumin and am going to go back on the NAC. I am trying to lower the inflammation in my lungs with natural supplements, so I am looking into anything that will do this for the lungs. I would love to hear the list of supplements and foods you know that help with COPD. Thanks.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member Google "Boswellia Serrata for COPD". I have read many articles on it being recommended for COPD, but nothing about Boswellia Serrata and cancer. Are you saying you read that Boswellia Serrata causes cancer or that it treats cancer?
