Do Dust Masks Stop Paint Fumes

My job added mixing paint to my list of duties i told them I have COPD they said ware a dust mask will that stop the fumes from affecting me

you can get an H95 mask at home depot..it is used for construction work..better at keeping dust particals out..

If you have COPD you should have no problem getting HR to understand that you shouldn't be exposed to anything that will aggravate your lung condition.

Talk with your doc regarding this. The mask might stop the dust, but it may not stop your reaction to paint fumes. It depends on you and how you react to the fumes. If you get to coughing and can't stop, it can lead to an exacerbation, so your company could be in for a Worker's Comp situation. You might talk with HR about reality and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Not mixing pain could be a reasonable accommodation.

Big believer in a good mask....Yard work,mosaic work, kitty litter duty times, etc...I promised myself I would no longer spray paint or use chemicals..It works out and keeps me breathing..
