Yesterday I did a lot of reading on surgical lung volume reduction (including bullectomies) It was interesting, but scary. The MOST interesting CASE was one 65 year old man. whose breathing KEPT going down hill. Finally, xray/ct scan revealled ONE, just ONE, HUGE BULLAE in the midsection of his right lung. So, the DR. installed just ONE of those ZEPHYR type valves, into that one big bullae (diseased portion of lung). To deflate it, I guess. Anyways it really, really worked well, and he was able to walk way longer distances and stop using oxygen.

I've not had either, just heard about lots of people and their experiences. As I said, some people do well and some don't. Part of it may be getting treatment from people who aren't as skilled as they should be; some of it is what happens to get you to the point where you need the procedure. Sounds like getting there was way more of the battle for you!

helo jean. have you had the operation? I think that having the drains put in for collapsed lung 5 times in 3 weeks was worse than the operation, in the end I was taken to the right hospital and had the op I didn't have any problems home in 3 days, this was nov 2016, the trouble has been with nerve damage to chest, still on lots of pain meds, I have blebs on other lung, which I have been told are small for now, but I'm still here full of life and very grateful to doctors in Norfolk and Norwich hospital Norwich uk, I havnt smoked for 12 years but was very heavy smker for45 years, I have stage 3 bullies empherseyma, but I'm takeing meds and puffers so we all get by, as you know some days bad some days goodm
ok for now and thanks for interest brian
