Pneumonia 2nd Time In 6 Months But Spot Is Showing In Same Place
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was just diagnosed with pneumonia for the 2nd time in 6 months, but the doctor said the spot they read as pneumonia on the x-ray 6 months ago is in the same place this time. The doctor said I was to finish all my medicines and come back for a CT scan in a month
Has anyone else had the pneumonia show in the exact same spot? Of course CT scan due to my history of smoking which caused my COPD. I am trying not to read too much into it as I know pneumonia can leave spots on our lungs as well as… read more

My sister had a pulmonary nodule. They tried radiation, it shrunk a little and then grew again. They then operated on her and removed a part of her lung with the nodule in it. They also told her that the lungs are very bad and she could not get operated on again. They did a biopsy first so that is why she had it removed. Yes, she smoked and has copd.

I saw my Pulmonary dr. today and asked him if generally nodules are non-cancerous, and he said usually they are not cancer,

I've had two nodules in my lungs for three years. Recently I found out that I have two more tiny ones and that the original two have shrunk. I have a CT every six months so my pulmonologist can monitor the nodules fairly closely. It is a scary proposition for sure, but it reinforces the need to live each day well. I know that these nodules could eventually be lung cancer or could continue to be nothing. It makes me want to do something fun each day and as the late singer Warren Zevon said shortly before he died from cancer "enjoy every sandwich".

I have no idea what it means when they grow. My Dr. did say that cancer does not usually grow like this where I have 2 nodules , one on each lung. Guess I will find out soon enough.
