If you're short of breath with exertion, ask for a 6 minute walk test. Walk as fast and as hard as you can so you get a good reading regarding your saturation levels. You can also get an oximeter of your own and measure what's happening when you really exert yourself. Lots of time the doc will take an O2 sat reading when you've been sitting in the exam room for 10 minutes, so it reads just fine, but when you get up to walk out, your sats drop like a rock. If you have the test and it doesn't indicate a need for O2, then fine; but if it does, make sure you get it and use it, especially when you're exerting yourself. You will feel better when you're using it, but remember it only works if you have it on. It doesn't accumulate or build up, so when you don't use it, your sats will drop.

For the cramping have your potassium checked. Do you nebulize? Ask your doctor about you going to rehab for your condition.

I'm truly glad that Jean is a team mate of mine and a member here. She pretty much say's it all in the use of oxygen. It's not a cure all but it makes your life a lot better when you use it.

Hi Im glad u wrote. Have u had a pulmonary test yet, or a arterial blood test. These tests will show the doctor how much air is getting to your lungs. They are very important tests. It lets the doctor know how to treat your copd.He might give u oxy along with inhalers. It also lets him know how bad your lungs are. If u haven't had them I would get them as soon as possible so u can be treated properly. You will probably get more advice from other members. I know u will have better days ahead. Have a good day.😎
