As far as I know there isn't any such things as "acute COPD". COPD either is or isn't. You can't be "acutely pregnant", either. That's why I said Deborah needed to ask the person who said it to her. You may be right Dorothy, that they meant the gradual deterioration that you are experiencing. The valves have been available in the UK for over 10 years now, so ask your respiratory medical people about them. You might qualify and they would help.

I think it is what I would call a bad day. I hope your new meds help.
Breathe easy.
I've added you to my team.

I think it means its a little worse as my copd is getting worse evdry time i get a exabation i find i feel its harder to get a good intake of air into my lungs at the moment i cant walk 10 feet without gasping for air and the only thing that eases it is steroids my ribs ache with me trying to pull the air into my lungs i wish i could discover something that could stretch my lungs and breathing tubes open , i have heard of a new op that you get valves inserted into you breathing tubes and theydont have to put you go sleep has anyone else heard of it babs hartlepool UK

It depends a little. They may be saying you have an acute exacerbation of COPD, in which case, you're generally very sick and hospitalized. If they're just saying acute COPD, I have no idea how that is different from COPD. Ask the person who gave you that diagnosis.
