Farmer's lung is a disease caused by an allergy to the mold in certain crops. Farmers are most likely to get it because it's usually caused by breathing in dust from hay, corn, grass for animal feed, grain, tobacco, or some pesticides. As with many lung diseases, there are limited medications and treatments. My suggestion is to get to one of the Centers of Excellence in Lung Health and get a complete diagnostic workup and treatment plan designed by the experts.
Yes. When I was diagnosed with COPD I was asked if I lived on a farm and I did I farmed with my father for 22 years I was too much of a man to wear a handkerchief over my face because my face would sweat and make me uncomfortable I am waiting for the day when it is bound to be part of a cause for COPD I worked for you and I sugar for five years and then I started in the construction field they have not found any signs of asbestos in my lungs although I was in construction for 25 years then I was in a major Hospital in the Bay Area as a engineer or 15 years before I was diagnosed with severe COPD the hospital that I worked at paid me off to leave early and that started my disability I have a hard time breathing now and I have a lot of places that I could have ruined my lungs my pulmonary doctor says that a lot of the scarring inside my lungs had to do with the Dust in chemicals during farming built up with the asbestos from construction and other things from being an engineer but there is no laws that either the construction company or the hospital I work for has to help me pay for my health insurance which I have not had for 2 years because of early retirement I did not qualify for Medicare for two years after being disabled I am permanently disabled with no insurance until February by then I will be hardly able to get out of the house and I have become very depressed because I am unable to do any of my activities I wished I could find some help somewhere but again it had started with farming in my pulmonary doctor confirmed that it had begun at that time I left performing when I was 22 years old and started construction I am 58 years old and I should be living life to its fullest but because of all three of these factors my life has been shortened extremely by the way does anybody want to buy a good used Harley-Davidson I cannot ride anymore I used to ride everyday but now I only get out one or two times a year
Farmers lung is caused by inhaling moldy hay. It's was more common when there was actually old school farming . The mold invades the lungs it's horrible.
