Avoiding Pneumonia
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Usually we do every thing we can to avoid pneumonia; stay away from just about everybody, keep hands clean and away from the face. Cover our face if somebody sneezes, wash food, all the things we can think of to stay reasonably healthy. Yet many of us end up in the hospital with the dreaded pneumonia. Is it because some are viral and some are bacterial? It's almost like luck of the draw. Are there things you're doing that seem to help?

Cleaning door handles, light switches, remotes, faucet handles, changing tooth brushes after each cold or flu is over. Also nany peopke get aspirational pneumonia from acid reflux so to lift the head of your bed at a 30 degree or more angle. Be sure to stay current on all your shots. Always use the wipes stores offer to clean handles that millions of people touch, money also carries many germs, we are in a different category of clean, but we are worth it as we can die from a simple cold, also the strong cleaners you use may be causing sickness as well, use vinegar and water cleaners as they have no harmful chemicals that your lungs cannot handle.. i hope that helps someone

I never had either shot. But I am admit about washing my hands. I eat probotic foods and vitamins. Grapes or raisens are good antioxidants . There are vitamins that address immune only if you find companies that are serious about promoting good health. I don't isolate myself, either. Maybe I have just been lucky?

They say that COPD is the third largest cause of death. It scared the heck out of me. That was until I came into this site. I had someone post that they were in their 80s and had copd since 1998. Something like that. That day forward I thought that if I live for another 20 years, that would be longer then I planned back in my 20s and 30s. I found that there is things you can do to help yourself, but sitting around and crying about it doesn't help one. Get some spark in your step, thank God for everyday, and the friends and family that have stuck with you.Get a Gettig attitude and love life. At least that is what I read into her. Life is to short to worry about death and we all got stuck with crappy disease, but they are trying to work something out. When I was young, Cancer was a death warrant, now they are curing it everyday. So my friends, the only thing I can say is live your life, tell the people close to you that you them love and keep chugging along. Put a smile on your face, that always keeps them guessing.
