Medication Side Affects
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

My condition is not serious, yet, but every inhaler I've tried, both long acting ( 3-4 different ones) and Ventolin all give me anxiety and heart rhythm issues. The breathing is better but the affects unacceptable. When I stop using for 24 hrs, it goes away. Are there any that don't?

The Long Acting Beta Agonists (LABAs) and rescue inhalers do often have those effects in individuals. Some people have tried several different ones and find that one is less of a problem than the others. Unfortunately, they do all contain ingredients that can cause anxiety and tachycardia in some folks. You could ask your doc to let you try one of the LABA/ICS combinations. That would tell you whether the inhaled steroid made any difference in the other reactions. The other possibility would be to try a LABA/LAMA combination and see if that works. The LAMA is a Long Acting Muscarinic Agent and there are a number of those combinations available.

I have tried Anoro - LABA/LAMA, but I was using Ventolin too, so maybe double whammy LABA was a problem. Will try by itself. Thanks so much.

Pharmacist says it's very common with them. All contain same stuff. That's why I am asking community. Are Corticosteroids better?

Side effects are very individual, check with a pharmacist or specialist.
