COPD And Nebulizer Breathing Treatments
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am curious , as I see similiar questions posted but no answers. I have COPD and from the start it was 'severe" from the diagnosis. I spent a week in the hospital and was dismissed with nebulizer treatments etc all the usuall stuff I suppose, now I have the good days which aren't that good and really bad days with breathing very difficult. I get to see a pulminologists, a respiratory specialist. and now I am to start seeing a radiologist who thinks he has an alternative to a surgery I need to… read more

In 19 + years, having to deal with copd/Emphasema/
Esbestos in my lungs. Been on quite a few Oral Inhalers, some I took once per day, others twice per day, even was put on two Oral Inhalers, that I did everyday, and on Prednasone everyday, anxiety pills everyday. To make a long story short, I was very close to death in July of 2015. That's when my lung specialist told me, that he felt it was those drugs that were killing me. At that time, I could barely walk more than ten feet, without fear of having an exacerbation attack, and on o2 24/7. So he told be to start backing off from them, if I got worse he'd put me back on them. Well I got myself off all of them. I then was useing a Dua Neb solution every six hours, and taking an antibiotic one three time a week, Mon, weds, and Fri. Its now August of 2019, still use no Oral Inhalers, Prednasone or anxiety pills, just the Dua Neb. I'm back working, I'm doing everything today that in 2015 was impossible for me to do. I use 2 liters o2 at night, and o2 during the day "if" I need it. I have a tendasy to over do things, causing me to become short of breath.
I now with every day breathing "deep" breathing exercises, physical exercising, and chuckle, I try to eat right. I do alot of praying too. Today I'm controlling copd, copd no longer controls me. My life's not perfect, but what I have, at least I'm happy. So for four years just with a 6 hour men, o2 assist, I can breath.
I found what caused me to have SOB symptoms, was when I was walking. That was because my legs were weak, weak muscles demand more o2 than strong muscles. And the legs have the largest muscle groups. So it been super sizing on leg and full body exercises. I tell you it works.
In my journey with lung disease, I had one doctor tell me to go home and make funeral arrangements, another a few later in 2014 tell me I wouldn't see Dec of 2015. And I'm here today because of prayer, a good lung specialist, and the will to not give up.
Gods blessing to you, and all team members. Breath well, never give up. Love you all !

It sounds like you need to get to a major clinic or teaching hospital specializing in lung issues. You've got a bunch of people all flailing about not paying any attention to one another or to you. You need a team of people who will put you at the center and work with you to figure out what the most important problems are, work on those and then go one to the next ones. I don't know where you are, but if you're seeing both a pulmonologist and a respirologist, I'd like to know the difference. Find a good lung center and go there.

If you have insurance check into a hospital bed ,one that will raise your back so you sleep in a slightly upright position. also get oxygen therapy both these will help you sleep. I have found good rest makes a difference.
Also I have found several supplements that have helped me NAC, DMG, and turmeric have made a big difference for me.
also look into a trilogy machine.
All these have helped me and kept me out of hospital for over 2 years.
