I got really excited when I was invited to attend a COPD clinic at local surgery, as I think care has been very ad-hoc (when I was diagnosed in 2009 my physio said "I have known people survive 10 years with this condition"). Hi, I was diagnosed with COPD (chronic bronchitis), but after over 4 years of treatment, I was told it wasn't COPD and it was chronic asthma and another underlying lung desease, but can not tel me what it is! I have had bronchitis 3 times and struggle to breath most days, with very little help or reasoning. Has anyone else had this occurs? And if so, what has been the outcome? I am thinking it is still COPD just because nothing else seems to fit. Thank you.

My mum had copd, I was diagnosed a few years back and now my brother has just been diagnosed with it. If anyone knows if it is hereditary and if there is a test that can be done to find out could you let me know please. Could I of passed this on to my children

Want to remind others that there is a Test that tells you if your COPD is genetic - a Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency - - There is a blood test that many aren't informed about. Might provide your children with insight - and possibly a different treatment for you

Does the disease progress any differently in smokers and non-smokers? The first bit of advice given to those afflicted with emphysema is to stop smoking - well what is the advice if one doesn't smoke?

I ask this question to save people from being misdiagnosed.
