Alvesco
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi
Is there cortisone in the Alvesco (Ciclesonide)? If so, do you gain weight with it?
Thanks
Carole

Alvesco is a corticosteroid. Even though it does contain a steroid, inhaled steroids DO NOT have the same side effects as oral steroids. While it's not impossible, the chances of you're having the same sort of weight gain with inhaled steroids as with oral steroids is practically none. It's far more likely that you either changed your eating habits or your activity level. Even with oral steroids, 90% of the weight gain is from an increased calorie intake and decreased calorie output. Maintain your current eating and exercise habits and you'll probably stay right where you are.
