Does anyone else suffer from daily backaches? I can’t do anything without having to sit down and rest! This morning I woke up with my hips and legs hurting. I took a couple of Tylenol but so far they haven’t helped. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, I'd suggest you consider a gentle exercise program that's more than just going up your stairs (though that's great exercise, so don't stop that!). With COPD, we lose stamina and endurance because we get so sob we just don't move for very long at a time and that means that we continue to lose stamina and endurance and muscle mass. You need to shoot for 30 minutes of aerobic activity without stopping for breath. Most of us can't do that, so we start very slowly and walk for as long as we can without stopping. When you do have to stop, check the time. Then walk the same amount of time again and again until you've done 30 minutes total. Keep doing that for a week or so and then add some time. Keep doing that and adding time until you can do 30 minutes without stopping. You should also look for strengthening exercises for the upper, lower and core muscle groups. Just google the terms and you'll find more than you could do in a lifetime. You need to do 30 minutes for each group every week.
Do you exercise on a daily basis? If not, you should probably talk with your doc about starting a daily exercise program that will help you strengthen your back muscles. You might also ask for a referral to a Physical Therapist for an evaluation and get some specific exercises that will strengthen those back muscles.

I phoned my dr this morning and he is calling in Tramadol for me. I’ve been taking Tylenol but if it’s helped any I can’t tell it.
Yes, I have a heating pad. I call it my best friend.😀
I would let your doctor know, so she prescribe something for you. Have you try a heating pad?

Between the ruptured discs and kidney stones. I can relate to the back pain. I've been taking tramadol for years and it works as well as anything. No side effects or issues. Hope you get relief.
