Has anyone else suffered from all food tasting bitter? Get hungry, but no real appetite. I love food and this has been difficult, perhaps it is steroids or other meds Iām on? Your experiences would help me!
Steroids made me hungy and my sugar level would drop and I had to eat right away or I would get sick to my stomach inhaler always made my food taste bad you have to rinse your mouth after using one they say you can get bug of the mouth if you dont have a good night and just breathe
Have noticed alot of food tastes different, could possibly be because of some meds.
Some people with COPD do have difficulty with appetite and being able to eat much. Very often the advice is to eat small meals six times a day rather than three larger meals. The diaphragm often presses down on the stomach, leaving very little room for food, so eating a typical meal is sometimes really uncomfortable or painful. Plus, the act of digestion takes a good deal of O2, and sometimes people get quite breathless after a larger meal, so eating smaller meals is a much better option, even though it is in some ways harder to manage. You do have to be careful that you get an appropriate amount of protein, carbs, and other nutrients if you go the small meal route. Sometimes people simply "graze" and that can work well if you're careful.
I've not run into the food tasting bitter before; could be a result of some of our meds, I suppose.
Yes I have lost my appetite. My wife is having to make me eat more. Last night could only eat a small salad and a beef patty. I read where this part of COPD.
