After a few bites of anything it feels like I just ate a turkey dinner and feel full and bloated. Please help. Thanks!
I have severe copd not on oxygen though but also have stomach issues I think is a link to my copd my stomach is Hugh like I’m going to give birth . Constapated, severe stomach pains. My pulmonary dr said my stomach will never go down something about my lungs and their narrow going in for my 6th endoscopy. Had every test done , colonoscopy and no body can find out what’s going on with my stomach pain , constapation I say it’s all due to my copd and stress I wake up anxious and sob any suggestions?
It's not at all unusual; many people experience this. Your diaphragm pushes on the stomach and that doesn't leave much room for food. As Rick said, eating six small meals is much better than eating three large ones and is highly recommended. You do have to make sure that your diet is well balanced and it's a good idea to have a nutritionist help you come up with a dozen or so alternatives that you can mix and match so you don't get bored with the same thing over and over.
I used to try some of my husband's meds occasionally and my doctors didn't like that. I can understand their point; they need to know what I'm doing at all times so they can take good care of me. Also, I think Baptist Medical Group frowns on it. But yeah, it seems like there are a lot of tests.
Sounds like a delicious but certainly not a nutritious meal. However, whatever works for you, keep with it!
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, you said you could never eat small meals frequently; I couldn't either. The nutritionist at pulmonary rehab gave me examples of 6 tiny 'meals' and one of them was 2 spears of asparagus. Those were early days, so I wasn't ready to be hungry all day just yet. But these days I can go slower if I go at my own pace. I can make a sandwich last an hour and I don't get sick either when I do it that way.
