Books On Copd

Any suggestions on a good book about copd for me and I want to find a book for my wife so she can understand what I'm going through and what to expect

I should also add that what to expect sometimes depends entirely on how you as the patient respond to the diagnosis and the lifestyle that you're willing to commit to in order to get as healthy as possible. As you learn more about COPD, you'll find that life-style changes can make more of a difference in how you feel, what you can do and how comfortable you are doing it. Things like no smoking (if you ever did), daily aerobic exercise at least 30 minutes and 30 minutes of strengthening exercises three times a week, weight control and diet will make a huge difference; way more than any meds will. You'll find, if you ask and your pulmonologist is listening, that what YOU do is way more important than the meds that might be prescribed. Meds will alleviate symptoms, but what you do can vastly improve what you can do.

If you have to have a book, Richard Martin's book is pretty good. I'd refer you to Youtube, though. There are lots of really good white board presentations about COPD that do a great job of explaining what happens physically and what the effects of the physical changes are. You can also find lots of good patient stories and learn a lot about how to live well with COPD. It's a lot more interesting than reading a book!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member🙇🏼‍♀️🙌 The best book your wife could read is your new journal you’ll be writing. Since you are unique in your own COPD walk, it’s important to keep a journal. That’s if you have time. Hallelujah 🙌🙇🏼‍♀️ Praising the Lord for having time. I have as much time as He’s giving me. Have a wonderful day. God Bless you and Breathe Easier.
