Sputum Cultures
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

Hi friends,
Has anyone been asked to do sputum cultures from their pulmonary doctor? What was the reason for this test.

Usually it's because you have an infection that isn't responding to the usual meds. Sometimes they do them to see if you're developing something in your lungs. If you've been sick, they're probably looking for an antibiotic that will attack whatever bug you've got. They could be looking for evidence of additional chronic disease.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ Whenever Iโ€™ve been asked for a sputum sample itโ€™s to determine what the source is for a particular infection not responding to the antibiotics given. God Bless you and Breathe Easier
