My husband kind of fell through the cracks,no specialist, learning to breathe nothing until I started to go to Dr's. visits. They did offer a program here in Canada you can attend in person,go online or if you cannot because of other challenges they will send a therapist to your house to show you what to do.We played phone tag with her a bit then she gave up so no help.

Our NHS pays for 70 treatments first year and after that you will get 52 treatments(or once a week).
We have different health insurence companies, but this is part of your basic insurance,as set by the our Health Minister.
This is for the rest of your life.
I go 3 times a week as i train in a group in the gym instead of together with a therapist.
And my Health insurence pays for 1 hour a week with a therapist.
As for Copd people once a week is not enough.
But it works for me as i know the exercises and can do them on my own.(with every 3 months a test by the therapist to see how things are going.)

Oh i see.
We have also different health insurence companies but it is still the National Health Service who makes the decisions,as there are only minor differences ,as prices of medicines and where they buy them, but the basic care is all the same for everybody.
But Western Europe without Germany and Poland is just a little bit bigger than Alaska,so i understand why with 50 states it’s a little bit different than in the EU.
(And that’s 450 milj people without the 75 milj from the UK)
We are all souvereign countries but the basic rules are made in Brussels.
And so for copd(gold3/4) i will get therapy for the rest of my life.

In the US, all Health services are available by Patient choice through a variety of medical providers and insured payors at the Local or municipal government level. Most "health insurance" coverage is provided as an employee benefit BY the Employer company. The quality of all medical services are guided by Regulations set by our elected officials, but there is no National Health provider to speak of. The main types of Social Services common across the entire USA are those dealing with income protection, primary education, dietary nutrition, and housing. That said, provision of healthcare resources for elderly citizens is one of highest priorities in the National budget. Military allotments run a close second.
