Definitely have had a loss of appetite. I feel full even though I know I didn't eat enough. And yes, being full makes it seem harder to breathe. I drink either Ensure or Boost with the highest calorie. I put it in the freezer (it says don't freeze) and as it defrosts I eat it with a spoon like a water ice. I get hungry but just never feel like eating! I got medical marijuana in tinture form and that does give me the munchies.
I think loss of appetite must have to do with the stage of COPD (mine is severe, I'm 78). About 4 months ago I lost appetite altogether. Day after day after day, did not need to eat. Lost much weight. Accompanied by extreme fatigue -- not that I felt tired -- just liked staying in bed, felt oh so good, normal. Now, up and about w/ light activities. Have appetite, somewhat -- have to remind myself to eat. Though when I wake in middle of night 'cause gotta pee, I feel oh-so-welcome hunger-in-the-stomach pangs... Anybody have the sense that it you eat too much it makes less room for lung expansion, and might contribute to Shortness Of Breath?... Anybody in favor of an emoji for that COPD sob?
Rev. Carl Weber, Ph.D.
I like something that Carl said. If I eat too much. It feels as if there is less room for air. I had lost about 40 lbs and found it easier to breathe. I quit smoking in October and I've put about 7 lbs back on. I can absolutely feel the difference. SOB a lot quicker and I hate it.!!!
I'm the same Deb I'm very finicky when it comes to food as long as I have what I want I'm fine if not forget it
I generally eat when I'm hungry and it's has to be something I'm really wanting..With fatigue and not getting around alot most days I have to be careful or the weight packs it on ya.
