Yes many times, as a matter of fact I went to the Doctor one time for Flare-up or Exacerbation and after examining me, she looked at me and said, "you need to do a real self-assessment, I'm surprised that you didn't go to the emergency room!" That was her way of chewing me out.
Only in my rescue pack
YES. The Steroids (when injected by IV) is the primary treatment for Flare-up or Exacerbation in the hospital setting. This is often followed with low-dose ( 5-10 mg oral) for the short and long term. The dangers are overemphasized by excluding the fact that very high doses are involved for the far worse scenarios to occur. The body also makes these same steroids all the time without harm.
Some patients even report improvement of other conditions while treating the Respiratory inflammations with Prednsone. Every medicine treatment is a trade off of Risk vs. Reward based on you total body conditions. Talk to your Doc about it.
Some people are prescribed prednisone on a daily or every other day basis. Most of us try to avoid that until we absolutely can't because of the side effects of long term prednisone use.
Sorry for misspelled words in my last post.
