Hi, there. I’ve had a VATS bullectomy and pleurectomy on my right lung. A bullae also known as a bleb is a blister in the lung which can cause a spontaneous pneumothorax - a collapsed lung. I don’t mean to insult your intelligence because you probably already know the basics.
I’m here.

Thanks Karen were you happy with the bullectomy I just had a collapsed lung a month ago and it caught me off guard. One of the doctors recommended it.
It has not been mentioned or offered to me.
But since it is a procedure to remove damaged lung tissue, you may find more details combining "LVR" with Cystic fibrosis, Sarcoidosis or IPF on your Internet research. The damage from Emphysema or Bronchitis rarely seem to compare with that in the broader Pulmonary categories like these. This is an OLD study, but it gives a idea of survival quality for various patient outcomes:

Be well.

I’ve read and re-read my response a few times and realize how harsh and negative I sound and I’m sorry about that. If my bullectomy was a book, it would have several chapters. Sad, bad, mad and absolutely HILARIOUS on three occasions. I didn’t mean to discourage you or scare you.
Once again, I’ll try to help with anything I can.

There is one thing that I know for sure and that’s that when it comes to bullectomies, I don’t know anything for sure.
But, I’m willing to help.
