An in-home oxygen concentrator is a continuous pulse concentrator, and is much better for home use, as you can use long hoses to get around the house while getting a good concentration of oxygen, depending on how many liters you require. A portable oxygen concentrator gives out pulse oxygen, meaning it spurts oxygen when you breathe only. Its great to use when leaving the house and is way better than dragging a huge green oxygen tank with you, but it's best to use a continuous concentrator at home.

There is no "circulation" of air. All concentrators do the same thing- take the oxygen and nitrogen in the air around us and makes it have more Oxygen for breathing. The lungs can tell the difference.

SO "better" is relative to whether or not you are able to maintain adequate levels of Oxygen adsorbed in the blood during your daily activities. IF you are mostly sedentary in your home, then a small POC at your couch-side may be enough with the pulse dosing to keep you saturated. If you move around quite a bit more, the hone unit may be needed with longer hoses to get from point A to point B. Of course, the hoses can create a tripping Hazzard too.

I am a firm believer that Tanks are the lesser of two evils. Your supplier should have several different sizes to pick from. They serve as a great backup if the power goes out and though clunky, promise a nice supply when shopping or dining away from home.

Though cute and fancy, the POC units just don't fit the bill it seems. In my opinion, the only advantage for the POC is for use with airline travel. Go for the home unit and tanks when you get to choose.

Your home unit produces way more 02 than your POC. The most that any POC produces is 1.26 LPM, and that is at pulse dose on a setting of 6 (the Inogen G5). Your home concentrator will produce 02 up to at least 5 LPM and there are concentrators that will produce up to 15 LPM (those are hard to find, but they do exist), so there's a significant difference between what your home concentrator will produce and your POC. The numbers on the POC DO NOT mean LPM; they're just numbers, nothing more and nothing less. Your home unit is producing more 02 than your POC, so in that regard it may be better, but the circulating air has nothing to do with it. Both units produce 02 using room air.

Truthfully, 85 - 90% is a more practical working range of home concentrators. Portable units would be considerably lower. Only the green tanks contain over 95% pure Oxygen.
