Do Prednisone Cause Internal Bleeding?

My dad has been on prednisone for a month now on and off. Now its looking like on but he is convienced that its casing him to bleed and cough up some blood. Is this a side affect what can i do to help?Anyone have this experience? thanks

Coughing up a little blood with COPD isn't unusual, but usually isn't caused by prednisone; usually it's the irritation caused by coughing. He probably needs to let his doctor know. Make sure you see how much he actually coughs up and look to be sure whether it's bright red or darker and clotted. That will be important information for the doc. Usually when people cough up blood they get freaked out and think they may be in serious danger, so sometimes they're not very realistic about what happened.

I have not experience that side affect with predisone but I was told when you are coughing alot, we have these tiny capillaries veins inside our lungs, and they become irritated or raw from the coughing and sometimes they kind of break open.

I have never had that side effect from prednisone. The only side effect of had is weight gain and I get extra energy I think sometimes I get irritable
