Sorry I missed the first part of your question. Flutter devices work if used properly, and if you have a significant problem with mucus or mucus plugs. You do have to use them regularly for them to work, so even if it doesn't work on day one, keep using it. If it still doesn't work on day 30, talk with your pulmonologist or the RT and get their take on it. Lots of water helps it work.

I've had an Acapella device for a week and it hasn't helped my SOB at all. Maybe I'm not using it enough. I can feel the fluttering in my chest but don't cough up any phlegm. I have never had a lot of phlegm anyway but my pulmonary Dr prescribed it. Had to pay $86.50 for it to be delivered in person by one of those medical equipment companies but you can buy them on Amazon without a prescription and about half that price. They come in blue and green models. I have the green. Might be worth it for you to give it a try.

The only thing the gummies will do is relieve pain if you have it. It won't do a thing for your COPD.

To be clear, the difference between the two "flutter" models is based on a person's limited ability to strongly exhale. In general, the Blue model is less forceful and would be easier to use. Assuming your Doc prescribed it based on your breathing tests results (while sitting in the clear booth). The rub is that excess mucus is normally a trademark of bronchitis - more so than emphysema. That would explain why little mucus is expelled for you after a flutter session. We all have mucus - all the time and everywhere - otherwise.

The flutter is still a good device to use for breath training and strengthening the diaphragm muscles for when a serious SOB event does occurs.
Hope this helps you a bit too:

Hi Don. The "flutter" devices work IF you understand how they work. First, only those with EXCESS mucus will likely benefit from using them. They function by doing two basic things: Creating a back pressure which cause you to EXHALE harder. The stronger you exhale, the more the used gases are expelled. This makes your next inhale breath stronger and more powerful. The in and out gives your brain the power to move.
See my profile picture.

The other thing it accomplishes is to excite some little "hairs" in your Respiratory pipes called cillia by creating a musical vibration (like playing a harmonica or mufflers on a car). These have died off over the years from smoking and pollution but they can be regenerated over time. They keep the smaller amounts of mucus moving on a regular basis to keep the pipes clear.

The last secret is WATER. Our body is just like a racing car engine. Except our fuel is water, not really those gases - Oxygen and CO2. The more Water, the better. This thins the mucus throughout the body where it is present all the time.

Let me know if you want some T/F videos instead to visualize this process but this YouTube video should explain it all.
Be well

ps. The CBD gummies are like leaded gas in a hot rod. We've got a race to run. Don't waste your time or money 🤑
