I had the procedure done about 2.5 years ago. The procedure is relatively simple. I spent 3 days in the hospital but that was to check for collapsed lung. I did fine, was out of bed later that day for a shower and then a walk the next day, down the hall and up/down steps. I went from 3 liters to 2 liters plus I could go without oxygen even walking sometimes. No meds, No restrictions just walk and exercise, eat good foods. Doctors do encourage Pulmonary rehab but if you walk and/or exercise daily, you should be fine.
Good Luck to you, Judy.
Go to the Pulmonx site and find the list of places that do the procedure. Find the one where you'd have it done and make your inquiries during the evaluation process. Once you have all the information you can make your own decisions based on information that you gathered. They're all different and you need to know what YOUR site will expect and find out what their experience is.
These are all good answers. I canβt add anything to them.π
@A MyCOPDTeam Member; you would be evaluated prior to the procedure and the number of valves would be determined at the evaluation. It's not a standard number and varies according to the individual's needs. The evaluation can also determine that you're not appropriate for the procedure at all.
During the procedure on average the doctor will place 4 Zephyr Valves in the airways. You will stay in the hospital for approximately 3 nights for observation. ...
