Who Do Y’all Get Your B12 Injections From?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have seen many of you mention B12 shots for fatigue.
Which doctor or place are you getting them from?
I have to ask for everything from my doctors, they never recommend anything.
And I have turned into a vampire, avoiding the sun when ever possible.
I don’t sleep well at night either, which doesn’t help.
Maybe I could use an injection of B12 sunshine?!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member years ago I got B12 injections from my hematologist. I'm not completely sure on this, but I think your primary care physician would have to refer you to one---AFTER he/she ran some blood tests first. This was like 6 or so years ago that I went to a hematologist (blood doctor), so I don't remember all the details, but I can say that you would have to be referred by another doctor with a 99% degree of certainty. I know there are B12 pills too, but I think you need a prescription for them too, but there again I could be wrong. I only went to the blood doctor a couple of times and have been reasonably good since then. Good luck🍀

Hi, I don't get b12 injections but I take b3 supplements and get out in the sun whenever I can (which isn't that often in the uk)

I read your post and have COPD and Crohns too. I take suppliments and multi vitamins. Since last November, I have lost almost 25 pounds and have stopped driving myself crazy about my weight. I am still trying to quit smoking altogether. I eat like a horse and try to take care of myself as much as possible. I get bummed out about my situation and stay at home for days at a time. My ostomy is permanent and is a source of endless concern but I have to remember that Crohns used to be fatal. I just try to stay calm and accept things as they are and change the things I can. I try to listen to my body and not overexert myself. Ithat GOD pray for all who are sick and suffering in hopes that medicine will catch up on our behalf and try to press on. Im pulling for you.

Good morning @A MyCOPDTeam Member,
I get a B12 injection every three months, B12 is absorbed from food normally though the Ilium/Colon, but because I have Crohn's disease I have had 4 resections, loosing intestine each time, B12 cannot be extracted from my diet, so hence the B12 injection every 3 months, it does give me more energy after each jab, crudely speaking it put's lead in my pencil, so it does help with energy levels.
Breathe easy.
God bless
Peter

Something else too, is that I watch for anything new in the medical field, and go to my doctor with the news to see what he says. Sometimes he already knows such as my request for B12 and Iron, but the latest developments, he is unaware of. 😊
