Everyone with COPD should be tested for Alpha-1, especially if you're young. I was tested years ago and don't have it. It's a simple blood stick and any pulmonologist worth their salt should know enough to administer it, though not all do.

Also the testing is not allways accurate for Alpha1 so make sure you test at least twice from different providers.
