Think I need to start at the beginning. Your doctor will order an arterial blood gas test. It will determine if a machine would help .The venous blood gas test is a simplified way to check co2 levels.
Purse ,exercises, fresh air, and any form of moving helps the body expel co2.

Hi Cindy and Jean, I hope my answer helps. Your doctor can run a simple venous blood test. I retain co2, my numbers were very high. He prescribed a bipap machine. I use it overnight. What a difference it makes. Takes away some of the brain fog and shortness of breath.

ABG blood withdrawls are pretty painful but, the only way to truly measure your Co2 levels. BiPap is the way to go.

CO2 buildup generally causes shortness of breath, clamminess, sweating, wooziness, confusion, brain fog. We all have some CO2 issues when we exercise, but this is constant and doesn't go away as we recover from the exertion. Some people are identified as CO2 retainers; your doc would be the one to identify you and no one's said anything, you should be fine.
