If showering is a problem, here are some things I do: turn the water on before I get in so I don't have to endure that early blast of cold water that can take my breath away; make sure the chair is available if I need it; getting the soap, shampoo, conditioner and anything else I want is right where I can get at it easily; getting the 02 and the hose arranged so I don't have to worry about it once in the shower; making sure there's a big towel or terry robe I can wrap up in once out of the shower; making sure there's a place to sit once I'm in the robe or towel so I can dry off comfortably. These things can make what is sometimes a daunting ordeal relatively painless.

Richard5, I too use my POC for showering, around the kitchen and when I go out. I use longer tubing on it so I can move about. The tubing on my home concentrator get stuck on corners and furniture. That and my cats find the tubing fair game. I keep my bathroom door open (or ajar when my son is home). That and cooler water to eliminate moisture in the room.

Great advice! Has anyone used longer tubing so that your portable can sit jus outside of the bedroom so that it is not drawing in moist air?

In regard to showering, a shower chair to sit on helps a lot and reduces the energy required, so you're not as sob. Equally, a big warm towel or a terry robe to wrap up in and a chair you can sit on once you get out can help a lot. That reduces the work of drying off significantly. Maybe those ideas will help. I would also suggest that you begin to do some chair exercises to build strength, especially in your legs. Working with bands can also help and be done initially as you sit. As you gain strength, you may wish to stand for some exercises. The stronger you get the more exercise you'll be able to do.

I use a stool to sit down and shower I also have a hand held shower head The best thing my husband got me a cushion to sit on It's the Type S go cushion 39.99 on web site and 29.99 on eBay It is great Comfort and it dries in the shower No cushion or cover to wash Vinyl and great to sit on Before that I had stool impressions on my butt when I finished 😚 This seat cushion is the best and he got in on clearance at Walmart for 12.00 Best 12.00 we have ever spent I told my sister to get it but she hasn't yet Guess that is going to be her Xmas present Now I shower for over a hour because I am so comfortable with that cushion Before that it was short showers twice a day Now long shower once a day
