Is it experimental
Stage IV specific?
… researching this online through reputable sites, BMJ (or British Medical Journal, which has now become a research validation site) seems to have the first white paper on this topic, although other sites are dancing around this, too.

I get a CT Scan and a Chemical Stress Test (heart) yearly. I am Stage 4 too. They can compare with the prior year to see if there are any changes. As for me, no change in past year and I am grateful.
I get x rays and ct scans
Every year
I can’t do stress tests anymore
I feel like every organ is being pulled out of my body
I was diagnosed at stage four
I’ve already lived 9 years longer than the drs said I would
I just make the best I can with each day
I’m on oxygen at night
And when I have to go out
Dehumidifier on all the time
Hope you all enjoy your holidays
Don’t overdo
I get a CT scan twice a year and an MRI maybe every 2 years. I've been on O2 24/7 since 5/6/14 after 2 weeks in the hospital with pneumocacal (SP?) pneumonia. I was told a few years ago that I was at "end stage" or Stage 5 - so I told both doctors never to tell me that again. And I don't dwell on it. When I had a test on my heart about 3 years ago I was told it appeared to be healthy and strong. Whatever I am, I'm grateful for every day even though what I can do gets more limited. Celebrate each day!!!
@A MyCOPDTeam Member🙇♀️🙌 I have never had anything besides X-rays. Years ago my pulmonologist at that time told me I wasn’t a candidate for any kind of surgery. In his next breath he said he wanted to do a CT scan. I asked him what for? He said so they had a baseline of my lungs. I said if I’m not a candidate for surgery then what could you possibly need to have a baseline for? Shortly after that I was Blessed with a wonderful new Pulmonologist, with fresh new eyes who told me I was a candidate for most any surgery, even emergency surgery. Showed me how she came to that conclusion on her computer. I’m ok with knowing what I do know and leaving the rest up to my maker. I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in. And I will not give up. I am going to ask her about these tests. Thank you for being such a great researcher @A MyCOPDTeam Member🥳🎉👍😊 God Bless you and Breathe Easy

I get an echocardiogram every year. My Dr said it was because the heart and lungs are connected and one affects the other.
Not sure if it is the same as a sonogram. But they check wall thickness of heart and arteries going into and out of the lungs, as wells flow and leakage.
